THANK YOU MARK!!!

Many of you haven't heard the news; the Lovejoy's are moving to Boston. Tonight was the date of their farewell party. Mr. Lovejoy is leaving next week, which is pretty sad. He leaves behind a now president-less Ann Arbor Velo Club. I don't know who will replace him, but I do know that Mark made an excellent club president and he helped bring many young and beginning riders into the sport of cycling. Obviously, I have a lot to thank Mark for.
1. Taking care of the junior team and recruiting juniors for me to ride with.
2. Teaching me how to ride a bicycle! When I was just a little guy, Mark and all the other coaches taught me more than most juniors ever know! Thanks guys!
3.Constant advice. Quite often, I got to Coach Mark for riding/racing tips.
4. Continual support, motivation, and encouragement. With the dismal results of my 2008 cycling season, Mr. Lovejoy showed me so many positive things that I had ignored. Thanks to his and other rider's help, I've buried everything that's happened!

Mark Lovejoy is an asset to any racing community. His hard work and charm make people want to be associated with him.
He will be missed.

It's SO on

Now that I'm in week 2 of base three, things are really starting to fall into place.
Last night I did my 3x15 LT intervals, and felt awesome. I just had so much power. I can't wait for the next installment of intervals.
I can't wait for this stupid winter to end. I want to race!

Riding Position

After watching many race videos, I have determined that I must attempt to get lower on the bike. In many of the race videos, I was sitting straight up, acting as a parachute, slowing myself down. Over the course of the past several weeks, I have been doing a really good job of getting into a low (yet comfortable) position on the bike.
Do I look fast? Could I do better?

Questioning

Although I have officially "buried" the 2008 racing season behind me, I still like to ask questions.
How could I have raced better? What the heck did I do wrong??? How can I fix it? What did Alexey do that I didn't do? What happened to me at the end of the season? Can I shake off what has happened? Can I become re-accustomed to racing in a large pack? Can I develop enough courage to go through a corner at full speed? Can I? Can I?
I think I can.

Spirit Week

Every February, during Homecoming week, a competition takes places that is simply known as Spirit Week. Every class in the high school competes for the Spirit Cup. Now, how do you win the Spirit Cup?
Well, the first way to win the spirit cup is to dress up. Monday was Decade Day.
I dressed up as a greaser.The next day was the infamous crazy/clash day. I knew that I had to do something big for my freshman class, something that would bring us victory...so I wore this:

'nuff said.

Wednesday was comfy day, the day of the games. From 1:30 to 2:30, every class in the high school competed in an intense series of competitions. By the end of the day, things were looking grim for the freshmen. We were in dead last, but not giving up. We were determined to beat the sophomores! I helped bring the freshmen to victory in the obstacle course, going head-to-head versus Justin and Kevin.

Thursday was character day. I dressed up as Inspector Clouseau from The Pink Panther.


Friday was the date of the pep rally and revealing of the winners of the Spirit Cup. The seniors won, and the freshmen got third place! We fought hard to beat the sophomores, and trust me, it was no easy feat! If we hadn't have won the obstacle course and beaten the sophomores in the banner competition, we would have finished in dead last! I was incredibly satisfied, because everyone expected the freshmen to finish last.

Friday night was the night of the homecoming game. Our varsity boys basketball team disassembled Westide Christian, with Jesse scoring 21 points and a garbage-load of rebounds.
Also that night was Homecoming Court. My sister was elected the junior representative. Yay Maria!

Saturday was the date of the much anticipated homecoming.
It was so much fun! I really enjoyed spending the night just hanging out with my friends, eating food, playing Rock Band, and line dancing.
